Leadership

Hi, My Name is Pyi Thein Khine, as a PHP Developer at Spiceworks Myanmar Co., Ltd. In this week, I would like to share a little knowledge about Leadership.

What is Leadership?

Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. The process of encouraging and helping others to work enthusiastically towards objectives.

Difference between Management & Leadership

Management – is a process of planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities of others.

Leadership – is the process of influencing for the purpose of achieving shared goals.

Importance of Leadership

Leadership transforms potential into reality. Leadership is not mere using people and their potential for realizing an organization’s goals. It has the ultimate aim of raising the level of human conduct and ethical aspiration of both the leader and the led.

What are Different Leadership Styles?

Autocratic Leadership

Autocratic leadership style is centered on the boss. In this leadership the leader holds all authority and responsibility. In this leadership, leaders make decisions on their own without consulting subordinates. They reach decisions, communicate them to subordinates and expect prompt implementation. Autocratic work environment does normally have little or no flexibility.

Democratic Leadership

In this leadership style, subordinates are involved in making decisions. Unlike autocratic, this headship is centered on subordinates’ contributions. The democratic leader holds final responsibility, but he or she is known to delegate authority to other people, who determine work projects.

Laissez-Faire

A laissez-faire leader lacks direct supervision of employees and fails to provide regular feedback to those under his supervision. Highly experienced and trained employees requiring little supervision fall under the laissez-faire leadership style. However, not all employees possess those characteristics. This leadership style hinders the production of employees needing supervision. The laissez-faire style produces no leadership or supervision efforts from managers, which can lead to poor production, lack of control and increasing costs.

Thank you so much for reading my post. Hope you enjoy this.
